Saturday Night Live (SNL) is a late-night television sketch comedy and variety showdeveloped by Lorne Michaels and Dick Ebersol. It premiered on NBC, a terrestrial television network in the United States, on October 11, 1975, under the title NBC’s Saturday Night. The show’s sketches often parody contemporary American popular culture and politics. Saturday Night Live features a two-tiered cast consisting of veteran repertory members, also called the “Not Ready For Prime Time Players” (the name used by the show’s original cast), and newer cast members who are known as “Featured Players.” Each week, the show features a host who delivers an opening monologue and performs in sketches with the cast. A musical guest is also invited to perform. With the exception of season 7, the show has begun with a cold open sketch that ends with someone breaking character and proclaiming, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!   (en.wikipedia.org)

Polish president Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria have been killed after their plane crashed on approach to Smolensk airport in western Russia.

There were conflicting reports today of the number of people on board the flight. Russian news agencies reported at least 88 people died in the crash near Smolensk airport in western Russia, citing the Russian Emergencies Ministry. They reported 132 people were aboard the Tupolev Tu-154.  (dailymail.co.uk)

Urban Meyer III (born July 10, 1964) is an American college football coach and former player. Meyer is the current head coach of the Florida Gators football team that represents the University of Florida located in Gainesville, Florida; he previously coached the Bowling Green Falcons football team from 2001 to 2002, and the Utah Utes football team from 2003 to 2004. He is best known for coaching the Florida Gators to two BCS National Championship Game victories during the 2006 and 2008 seasons. Meyer’s winning percentage (.842) is the highest among all active coaches with a minimum of five years at a Football Bowl Subdivision program.

On December 26, 2009, Meyer announced he would resign following the team’s bowl game against Cincinnati, citing health concerns. However, the following day Meyer announced that he would instead take an indefinite leave of absence. Meyer returned to coach the Gators’ spring practice on March 17, 2010.
